Mackarena Kartsevski

Mackarena is a Chilean PhD Candidate in Linguistics from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and English Literature (Cum Laude) from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. She also earned her Masters in Applied Linguistics (Summa Cum Laude) from Universidad de Concepción. She completed a certificate in Neuroscience and has an English as a Foreign Language teacher credential. She taught English at Chilean schools for more than 7 years, to both children and adolescents. She is currently working at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso as a lecturer in Linguistics at the English Language Teaching program (to prepare future teachers of English). Her line of research derives from Psycholinguistics, combining Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and Bilingualism. Mackarena is interested in the cognitive mechanisms and individual differences that support Bilingual Language Regulation in Second Language Learners of English in non-dominant contexts.
