I am a first year graduate student in the Education program at UCI. I received my B.A. in Psychology and Foreign Languages (Portuguese and French) from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras. Currently, I am interested in studying the relationship between language and emotion. More specifically, I research how bilinguals feel emotions differently or similarly in their two languages while paying attention as how differences in the bilingual experience (age of acquisition, language use and context, etc.) influence the degree of emotionality. Furthermore, I study how the emotion-language relationship impacts cognitive processes (i.e., memory) through the use of experimental and behavioral designs.
I am looking for students that are eager to learn and are willing to work/cooperate with a team. Knowledge of a non-English language (particularly Spanish) is desirable, but not required. No need to have computer skills or previous research experience, only a willingness to learn and acquire new skills!
